Woody Diswood Jr.

Woody Diswood Jr., 77, of Waterflow, passed away Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015. He was born to the late Woody and Beatrice Diswood Sr. He graduated from Navajo Methodist Mission in 1956. Immediately after graduation he entered the U.S. Marine Corps. He trained in San Diego, Calif. After his service, Woody trained to operate heavy equipment, which he utilized in helping build major highways in New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Colorado and California. After road construction he worked for the Utah Mine, in different capacities, including dragline operator. Woody married the late Mary Notah Diswood and settled in Waterflow. Woody was a loving father, husband, grandfather and brother who was always giving and compassionate. Family and the importance of education were priorities that he taught his children. After his retirement he continued with his passion of construction and operating machinery through volunteering. He spent many summers "blading" the roads in the Chuska Mountains. He enjoyed being with family, gardening, doing The Daily Times crossword puzzles, fishing, reading western books, landscaping around his home, and making home improvements. Woody's greatest pride was in his children and grandchildren.
Woody is survived by his children and grandchildren; daughters, Michelle Diswood, Stacy Diswood and family, Audra Diswood and Shawn Atene and children Donavan and McKenzie, Stephanie Diswood, Jeri and Jason Lewis and children Lynelle, Kali, Jaxson and Mason, Patty Diswood and son Alexander, Grace Charley, and sons Arlan and Vernon Charley. His siblings, Gary, Deborah, Lavenia, Douglas, Ernest and Samuel Diswood. He is preceded in death by father, Woody Sr., mother Beatrice, wife Mary, and siblings; Earl, Patricia, Jennifer, and Priscilla. His accomplishments, love, and long life will always be treasured. The Diswood family would like to thank all the providers and medical staff who were vital in Woody's healthcare.
Memorial services will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, at Kirtland Union Hall, 4260 U.S. 64 in Kirtland.
