Willis Frederick Young

Willis Frederick Young, 89, of Farmington, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2015. Willis was born Sept. 3, 1925, to William and Esther Young in Hector, Minn.
Willis Young was a lieutenant colonel in the Army Chaplain Corps. He served in both Korea and Vietnam.
After retiring from the military, he served as a pastor of Central Baptist Church in Farmington and Vallecito Baptist Church in Vallecito, Colo.
His hobbies were reading, writing, photography, gardening, camping and other outdoor activities.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Fannie Lou Young; parents, William and Esther Young; and brother, John Young.
Willis is survived by his wife, Patricia Young; sons, Steven Young and Terry Young; stepsons, John and Sean Burke; daughters, Carolyn Swindell, Denise Duke, Cherie Jordan and stepdaughter, Elizabeth Burke; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at Grace Hill Baptist Church.
A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m., with Pastor Tim Castillo officiating.
Burial at Santa Fe National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
