William L. Sherman, 78, of Mitten Rock, passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, in Farmington. Bill was born Nov. 6, 1936, in the Oak Springs/Red Valley, Ariz., area. William was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served honorably for five and one half years. He was a loving husband, father,
grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. William also had many adopted relatives from several tribes across Indian Country. As a young man, William loved playing basketball and football in high school. He worked for the U.S. government for more than 30 years and always worked hard to provide for his family. He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him and care for him. William leaves behind his wife, Rebecca Sherman; sons, Charles Sherman and wife Maryann, and Sean Sherman and wife Dawn; grandchildren, Ty Benally, Tai Zan Benally and David Sherman; great-grandchildren, Iona Snow King-Sherman and Parker William Sherman, and many dear friends. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6 at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home in Farmington with his son Charles Sherman officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors in Shiprock Veterans Cemetery.William's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington, 505-325-8688.
