William "Bill" Leroy Long, 87, of Aztec, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2014, in Farmington, NM. He was born on November 20, 1926, to Lloyd and Matilda Long in Farmington, NM. Bill served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked as a mechanic and drove a mail truck from Durango to Salida, CO. He was also a farmer. He enjoyed farming and gardening and dedicated much of his time and talents to cultivating his land. His favorite pastimes were spending time in the mountains and fishing. Most of all, he loved spending time with family and friends. He adopted many little kids as his own and his countenance would light up when they came to visit. He had a kind heart, comical personality and loving nature that will be missed by all. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bob Long; and sisters, Helen Moss and Betty Campbell. He is survived by his brother, Larry Long and wife, Lois of Farmington, and numerous nieces and nephews whom loved him very much. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at the Aztec United Methodist Church, 123 E. Chaco Ave., with Pastor Jeff Symonds officiating.
