William Maurice Kennedy, 84, of Farmington, NM and formerly of Sun City West, AZ, joined our Heavenly Father Sunday, August 14, 2022. He was born May 22, 1938, in Vincennes, Indiana to Maurice Kennedy and Helen Keynon Kennedy.
Bill married Phillis Ann Daily on Aug. 18, 1956, in Washington, Indiana and together they started what would be generations of family members, beginning with their daughter Debora Lee (Kennedy) Martinez of Farmington, NM and their son William Allen Kennedy of Morrison, CO. Daughter Debora married, John A. Martinez of Farmington and together they gave Bill two granddaughters transforming him lovingly into “Ponca”. His granddaughters, Christine L. Martinez and husband Gregory P. Martin, and JoAnn N. Martinez, all of Farmington gave a total to 5 great grandchildren, James Isaac Bender, Megan A. Bender, Jake C. Anderson, Finn A. Anderson, Cian R. Anderson, and 3 step-great grandchildren, James G. Martin, Nicholas D. Martin and Angelina R. Martin, all of Farmington, NM. Son William Allen continued to add to the generations through Bill’s grandson, and namesake, William Max Kennedy and girlfriend Hailee Field.
Bill has lived and moved across the country from the Midwest to the Southwest, eventually making the Southwest his home. He has made numerous friends along the way and was great at keeping those connections throughout his life time. He was smart as a whip, could fix anything, always had a smile, enjoyed a laugh, and loved spending time with his people. He worked for several companies in the region including Peabody Coal Company, Utah International and Central Arizona Project in the area of electrical engineering. In the last several years he developed a love for Harry Potter books and movies and he enjoyed his time with his beloved canine buddy, Rufus.He will be greatly missed, always loved, and his stories and memories carried on through his family.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, daughter and son-in-law; grandchildren and their families; his brother, Robert Kennedy and wife Debbie Kennedy, numerous nieces and nephews; and his brother John Kennedy.
The viewing for Bill will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 19th at the Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103. E. Ute St. in Farmington with services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Farmington.
