William Arthur Goolsby

William "Art" A. Goolsby, 70, of Bloomfield, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his family. Art was born Nov. 22, 1943, in Pasadena, Texas, to James Z. and Lily Goolsby.
Art attended Bayfield High School and graduated in 1962. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1963. Art met the love of his life, Cheryl "Cherrie" on the steps of her high school in Mountain View, Calif. They were married Sept. 6, 1966, in Santa Clara, Calif. Art loved hunting, fishing, going to the casino and owning his guns and knives. He truly loved the outdoors.
Art was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lily Goolsby; sisters, Beth Anderson and Dorothy Rowley; and his brother James Goolsby Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years Cheryl Goolsby; daughters, Kimberly Martinez, Judy (Jose) Perez, Stephanie (Lester) Caldwell, Dee Dee (Shaun) Scott; son William (Nancy) Goolsby; 13 grandchildren, Kristy, Jessica, Amanda, Alex, Derek, Locklan, Julia, Elijah, Zayden, Madelynn, James, Trinity and Violet; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, at the First United Methodist Church, 123 E. Chaco Ave. in Aztec.
