Wilfred Vicente Jacquez
Dec. 26, 1927- Aug. 21, 2016
Wilfred Vicente Jacquez, 88, of Bloomfield, passed in his sleep Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, in Bloomfield. He was born on Dec. 26, 1927, in Blanco. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. A very proud and lifelong resident of our wonderful community has moved on to greener pastures. All of us are honored to have had Mr. Jacquez, and those of his incredible generation to have touched our lives in countless ways. Wilfred believed in trading a hard day's work for fair pay. Treating others as you wished to be treated, looking a person in the eye with a firm hand-shake, and above all ... your word is your word. A modest man, he shied away from adulation, but would do anything for anyone, anywhere, anytime, and ask nothing in return. Wilfred and those of his era survived and succeeded regardless of the obstacles. No computers, no cell phone but with sheer grit, determination, and just plain hard work are the keys that made them who we've come to know, respect, and love. Wilfred was a good son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He is survived by many siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, three sons, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 307 N. Church St. in Bloomfield. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m Thursday, Sept. 1 at St. Mary's Catholic Church 307 N. Church St. in Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, Wilfred would have taken great comfort in knowing any contributions or donations be made to the disabled and homeless veterans of San Juan County. As a member of the U.S. Navy or "Canoe Club" as he liked to joke, he was very proud of his time in the service and would consider it an honor to have helped his comrades in a final gesture of his life. We miss you, we love you, we will never forget you, and can only hope to carry on your legacy and make you proud. Via Con Dios Wilfred!
Wilfred's care is entrusted to Alternative Choice Burial and Cremation, 804 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington, 505-325-9611. Those who wish to express their condolences may do so at www.serenityandcompany.com
