Wesley R. Hobbs

Wesley R. Hobbs, Grants Milan Municipal Airport manager of 20 years passed away April 7, 2015 in Albuquerque NM due to stroke complications.

During Wes' more than 50 years aviation career he obtained and maintained licensure as a commercial pilot, flight instructor and airframe and power plant mechanic certification with inspection authorization. He lived and breathed aviation. He was a Viet Nam era veteran and served aboard the USS Forrestal aircraft carrier from 1961 to 1964. Following his naval service he obtained the rank of Lieutenant in the China Lake Naval Weapons Center fire division. While serving at CLNWC fire division he was honored for saving the life of a one year old that had stopped breathing.

Wes was born Dec. 5, 1942 in Santa Monica CA. His parents, Clifford W. Hobbs and Evelyn M. Sprague Hobbs, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Diane of Milan; his sister, Glenna Lenz-Payne and husband Dan of Las Vegas NV; his brother, Stan of Trona CA; his children, Randy, Danny and James Hobbs of Spokane WA, Heidi and Chad Hoffman of CA, and numerous grandchildren.

All are invited to join his family and friends at a memorial service to be held at the Grants Milan Municipal Airport on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 1:00pm with Reverend Ray Jenkins officiating. Refreshments will be served following the service.

Honorary Pallbearers include; his sons; Randy Hobbs, Danny Hobbs, and James Hobbs, and his many, many friends which are too numerous to mention separately, but were very special to him.

The family requests, In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to PO Box 2579 Milan, New Mexico 87021.

Arrangements are entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup
