Wally Meyer

Wally Meyer, 65, of Farmington, died at home on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, after a brave battle with leukemia. Wally was born June 14, 1950, in Farmington, to Walt and Kathy Meyer.
In his teens he was active in Scouting and achieved Eagle Scout.
Wally married his high school sweetheart, Sujean Anderson, July 27, 1969. Wally and Sujean were happily married for 46 years. He was a good father and a good man.
Wally worked hard all his life and gained the admiration and respect of everyone he met. He began his career as a counselor with Halvorson House. He continued as a counselor with the San Juan County DWI Treatment Center until his retirement in 2014. He found great honor and humility working as a counselor and was able to help and touch many people. Along with counseling he loved making people laugh, was an avid reader, trivia and wood working.
Wally was a cradle Lutheran, and a founding member of Christ the Rock Lutheran Church in Farmington. He served the church in many capacities, including as president, elder and congregational assistant. He was a cheerful and courageous follower of his Savior Jesus Christ, and was dearly loved by his church family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathy Meyer; and by two brothers and three sisters.
Wally is survived by his wife, Sujean Meyer; sons, Zachary Meyer and wife, Tiffany, and Adam Meyer and wife, Kari; father, Walt Meyer; grandchildren, Brandi, Courtney, Scott, Bronwyn and Axel; four great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces and his church family.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27 at Christ the Rock Lutheran Church, 5401 Hood Mesa Trail in Farmington with Pastor Ross Else and Pastor Jim Fleming leading the service.
