Walter Edward "Ed" Dial
December 7, 1921 - April 1, 2016
Walter Edward "Ed" Dial, 94, of Farmington, New Mexico, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side on April 1st after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Ed was born in Aztec, New Mexico, December 7, 1921, to Cecil C. Dial and Elsie L. Dusenbery-Dial, he graduated from Aztec High School, studied accounting in Denver, Colorado, where he met his first wife and mother of his children, Catherine B. Funk-Dial, and a WWII veteran, having served honorably with Commander Paul Tibbetts in the 509th Composite Group.
Ed was preceded in death by his first wife, "Kaye", his son, Walter, and brother Robert "Buster" Dial. He is survived by his two daughters, Sharon (Howard/Deceased) McDonald of Arizona and Pat (Mike) Welsh of California, along with 8 granddaughters, Tori (and his best buddy Donnie) Robbins, Samantha Galbreath, Evie Dial-Bullock, Aimee Dial-Parrish, Shawna Friedler, Erin Church, Michelle Avdalovic, and Whitney Glass, and 23 great-grandchildren, including "his boy" Tanner Robbins. He is also survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Anna Perkins Dial, and her son, Gary Perkins, her daughter Celeste Perkins, six grandchildren Chad Perkins (who shared a special bond), Stacey Perkins Lyons, Tiffany Karlin, Ashton Hemphill, Audrey Crane, Allen Crane, and 15 great-grandchildren. All of the grandkids and great-grandkids always fondly referred to him as GG, and they loved him and he loved them. Ed enjoyed a wonderful, long life, filled with so much love, we will all miss him greatly, but he will always be in our hearts and thoughts.
A viewing for family will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2016, from 1-1:30pm at Cope Memorial Chapel in Aztec, with a short tribute to Ed from 1:30-1:45pm before the graveside services to celebrate Ed, at the Aztec Cemetery to begin at 2pm. A reception will follow the graveside services at First Baptist Church in Aztec. Walter's care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel of Aztec. 405 S Main St. Aztec, NM 87410.
