Virginia Lee Hargis, 82, of Aztec, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2013, in Farmington. She was born July 17, 1930, in Carlsbad, to Bill and Ethel Mae Watson.
Virginia was also known as Ginger. She was a loving mother and grandmother, she was loved by all.
She was the matriarch of the family. Anyone who met her always loved her, for she always had a kind word to say.
Ginger loved the outdoors and being with her grandchildren.
She will be missed by all.
Ginger was preceded in death by her husband, John Calvin Hargis; son, John Calvin Hargis III; daughter, Lori Kay Hargis; her parents and her brother, Billy Watson.
She is survived by her sons, David W. Elliott, Corey and Tamera Hargis and Billy Hargis; daughters, Barbie Burton, Garnet (Bart) Ashcroft (Hargis), Patty Shelton (Hargis) and Bonnie Hornburger; 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, at Cope Memorial in Aztec.
A graveside service will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, in the Aztec Cemetery, with Pastor Dennis Vaughn officiating.
Pallbearers are Charles Hargis, Bill Hargis, Creig Wallace Jr., Glen Shelby, Rick Crowder and Shane Fletcher.
Honorary pallbearer is Creig Wallace Sr.
Ginger's care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel of Aztec, 405 S. Main Ave., 505-334-9332.
