Funeral services for Tsosie Brown Jr., 63, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Our Lady of Fatima in Chinle. Jose Gutay will officiate. Burial will be in Chinle Community Cemetery.

Brown died September 7, 2015, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born August 3, 1952, in Rehoboth, into the Sleeping Rock People Clan born for the Bitter Water People Clan.

Brown graduated from Chinle High School in 1970 and attended college for a year in Salt Lake City. He worked at Chinle Community Center for 27 years and was awarded Navajo Nation Legendary Basketball Player in 2012. Brown enjoyed playing basketball, attending church, walking and running. He hosted the Eddie H. Brown Basketball Tournaments and was an avid Chinle Wildcat fan.

Survivors include his sons Tsosie Brown III, of Albuquerque, and Jeffery Bitsui, of Flagstaff, Arizona; daughters Marita Rae Ortega, Vantrice Fuentes and Eby Zisman, all of Albuquerque; brothers Fred Brown, of Tsaile, Arizona, Bobby Brown, of Chinle, Norman Patrick Brown, of Albuquerque, Edsel Brown, of Albuquerque, and Nathaniel Brown of Chinle; sisters Lucille Claw and Dinah Descheeny, both of Chinle, and Verna Chee, of Cottonwood, Arizona; and 11 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Tsosie Joseph Brown III, Jeffery Bitsui, Edsel Brown, Norman Patrick Brown, Nathaniel Brown and Duane Claw.

Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup, New Mexico is entrusted with arrangements.
