Thomas (Tom) Peace of Aztec, NM passed away on Wednesday, June 29th, 2016 in Farmington, New Mexico. He was born on May 28, 1923 to Theresa and Howard Peace in Patton, Pennsylvania. He was raised in Bradford at their house on Center Street with his three brothers Larry, Henry and Mike and graduated from Bradford High School in 1942. After graduation he served in the Army Air Force in WWII as an airplane armorer with the 39th Bomber Squadron on Tinian Island in the Pacific Theater. Tom served through the end of World War II after the Japanese surrendered and was honorably discharged on January 3, 1946. Tom was a member of the "Greatest Generation", and proudly served to keep us all free.
After his discharge from the service he worked as an electric lineman in Bradford and Warren. During that time he met Violet Marks of Smethport, Pa. while she was attending nursing school in Bradford and they were married on December 29, 1951. They lived in Columbus, Ohio briefly and lived in Sheffield, Pa. for four years. They moved to New Mexico in 1958 and settled in Aztec, NM where raised their four children. Tom continued working as an electric lineman until his retirement from the City of Farmington on May 30, 1986.
Tom was preceded in death by his mother and father, his three brothers and his wife Violet, who passed away in 2014. Tom is survived by his sons Jeff (Martha), Jerry, and Jim, and daughter Lorie Peace. He has six grandchildren, Michelle Kelton, Natalie Cordova, Jeffrey Peace, Wayne Peace, Jason Peace and Ashlie Maxwell. He was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren.
In honor of Tom's request there will be no memorial service.
