Sylvia Marie Padilla, age 69 of Farmington, NM, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 26, 2017 surrounded by family at San Juan Regional Medical Center following a courageous fight against leukemia. She was born in Las Vegas, NM to Joe A. and Celia Lopez on October 19, 1947.
Sylvia graduated from Farmington High School in 1965. She worked as a hair stylist and for Dillard's department store both for 25 years before retiring. She was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Church and had a deep belief in the Lord which guided her fight against cancer. She never waivered in her faith and the love of her friends and family.
She is survived by husband of 48 years, Jake Padilla, daughters, Stacy (Michael) Roquemore and Angela Trammer; brother Daniel (Bette) Lopez; grandchildren: Hunter and Colton Roquemore,and Erick and Nicole Sewell. She leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.
Sylvia loved those around her deeply and was never too busy to watch her Dallas Cowboys, spend time with family watching football and baseball or get in trouble shopping. She loved being outdoors and rooting on her grandsons at the ball field. She was known as "Nana" to everyone and always remembered to bring enough snacks to share. She fought a brave fight that allowed her to spend precious last months at the ball field with her boys.
Cremation has taken place and memorial funeral mass is Friday, June 30th at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Parish, 414 N. Allen with Father Jeff King as celebrant. Burial will be private with immediate family. Contributions in memory of Sylvia may be made to the American Cancer Society.org.
