Stephanie Erlinda Hemstreet, 46, of Upper Fruitland, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, in Farmington. She was born July 29, 1968, in Farmington, Stephen and Anna Hemstreet. She was born to the Mexican Clan and born for the Bitter Water Clan.
Stephanie attended schools in Farmington, Bloomfield and Kirtland. She graduated in 1986, from Kirtland Central High School. She worked at several different places such as Sonic, Western Tire, Dino's, Raytheon and Safeway. Her son Lex was her world. She had a very special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews, Brittany, Brianna, Justin and Cody. Stephanie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Her favorite pastime were cook outs, camping and fishing. But most of all she enjoyed watching her favorite team the San Francisco 49ers. She had a special companion Darryll and they enjoyed riding their Harley. Stephanie was a very outgoing person. But most of all, Stephanie will be greatly missed especially her jokes and laughter.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her father Stephen "Jeff" Hemstreet; maternal grandparents, Tom and Marie Barber; and paternal grandparents, Jay Willie and Lucille Hemstreet. She is survived by her companion Darryll; son Lex S. Atcitty; mother Anna Hemstreet; brothers, Jeffrey Hemstreet and Ronnie Hemstreet; and sisters, Elvira Hemstreet and Valerie Hemstreet.
A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at Desert View Church, off Navajo Route 36 in Upper Fruitland, with Pastor James Freddy officiating. Burial will follow in the Hemstreet Family Cemetery, south of Farmington. A reception will be at the church.
Pallbearers are Michael Benally, Nick Harvey, Titus Howard, Sammy Pioche, Cody John, Justin John, Julius Padilla and Melvin Tsosie Jr.
