Memorial services for Silvan Arnold, 61, will be at 10 a.m. Staurday, Jan. 5, 2013, at the Cope Memorial Chapel. The Rev. john Thumman will officiate. Private disposition will be in Sunset Memorial in Gallup.
Arnold died Dec. 23, 2012, in Gallup. He was born July 27, 1951, in Fort Defiance, AZ into the Sleeping Rock People Clan born for the Charcoal Streak People Clan.
Arnold graduated from Window Rock High School in 1971. He worked at Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute in Albuquerque as a civil engineer; Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, as a heavy equipment operator; PandM Mining in Window Rock, AZ; at the Division of Water Resource in Fort Defiance, AZ; at Facility maintenance in Fort Deviance, AZ; Donated Food Program in Fort Defiance; and Damons Freightline of Window Rock, AZ. Arnold received a retirement award from the Navajo Tribe.
Survivors include his wife at Sarah J. Arnold, of Blackhat; sons Brian Carlton Arnold, of Navajo, N.M., and Terry Jason Arnold, of Cortez, Colo.; daughter Valerie James, of Pinedale, Marsha Chelsea Arnold, of Mesa, AZ, and Tammy Rochelle Arnold, of Blackhat; sister Della Arnold Kinlicheeney; and 10 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Leo Hubbell Arnold and Harriett Natoni Arnold and brothers Leo and Larry Arnold.
The family will receive relatives and freinds at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Good Shepard Mission.
