Shirley Ann Hammonds

August 31, 1939 — March 26, 2013

Shirley Ann Hammonds, 73, of Farmington passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington. Shirley was born on August 31, 1939 in Childress, Texas the daughter of Luke Sims and Edith Rosetta Vaught Sims. When Shirley was small she used to slide down the fire pole at the local fire station. Shirley attended and later graduated from high school in Morton, Texas where she was a member of the FFA and played in the band and became a drum majorette. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Farmington. Shirley loved the Dallas Cowboys and was one of their biggest fans. She also loved and worshipped Elvis Presley and even met him a couple of times. She'll be remembered for her good cooking and especially her southern fried chicken. Shirley enjoyed watching old westerns on television. She'll loved animals and especially Charlotte's dog "Blue". Shirley adored her family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley leaves behind her husband Teddy Hamonds; son Ted Hammonds and wife Kelly of Monte Vista, Colorado; daughters Terrye Hammonds and Diann Hammonds; brother Ronald Dean Golden of Monte Vista, Colorado; three grandchildren Zachary and Raela Hammonds and Charlotte Robertson; 2 great-grandchildren Jaden Crispin and Kali Bass and many friends. Cremation will take place and rosary will be recited Monday, April 1, at 7:00 p.m. at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St. with Father Timothy Farrell reciting. Mass of Christian Burial is Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 414 N. Allen in Farmington with Father Timothy Farrell as celebrant. Shirley's services are entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, (505) 325-8688.
