Sarajane Johnson Obituary
Sarajane Johnson, of Kirtland NM, died Sunday October 5, 2014, after a long adventurous life and a short illness. She was 82.

Born to Thelma Keller in Topeka Kansas 1932, Sarajane learned to read at age three. She carried her love of literature, especially British mysteries, with her throughout her life, often reading two books a day. Sarajane was educated at various boarding schools as a child and went on to graduate from San Juan and Fort Lewis Colleges, after her children were grown. After teaching at Kirtland Middle School, and San Juan College for several years, Sarajane fulfilled her love of travel, archaeology and Buddhism by teaching children in the mountains of Nepal, participating in archaeological digs in Israel and visiting Buddhist temples in China. Back home in Kirtland, Sarajane spent many years volunteering for the Red Cross, giving tours of the Aztec Ruins and caring for her lilacs.

Sarajane is preceded in death by her husband Carl Robert Johnson. She is survived by her five children, Carol Johnson of Arizona, Robert Johnson of New York, MaryBarbara Geddes of Washington, Elizabeth Noorlander (Bill) of Wisconsin and William Johnson (Heidi) of North Carolina, six grandchildren, Jonalyn Hudson (Jason), Christine Kennedy ( Norbert), Madeline, Ian, Annika and Ryan Noorlander and three great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her closest friends in the Four Corners region, her former home of New York, and around the world.

At her request, there will be no services. The family would like to extend its gratitude to Sarajane's friends and neighbors for the assistance and love they showed her during her many years in Kirtland, especially the last few months of her illness.
