Funeral services for Sally Jean Scharping, 72, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at C.B. Helping Hands Ministries, 769 East Roosevelt Ave. in Grants. The Rev. Antonio Thomas and the Rev. Shelia Gholston will officiate. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at C.B. Helping Hands Ministries. Cremation will follow services.
Scharping died Jan. 15, 2013, in Grants. She was born June 15, 1940, in Albion, N.Y.
Scharping enjoyed traveling, reading, and taking care of others. She was a nurse for over 40 years, which allowed her to help others. Scharping moved to the Grants area five years ago as a traveling nurse. She worked for Critical Nurse Staffing in Grants for four years, caring for uranium miners. She was loyal and devoted to her clients in the Grants area. She was also a member of C.B. Helping Hands Ministries in Grants.
Survivors include her son Jeffery Scharping of Des Moines, Iowa; brothers Steve Coville of Albion, N.Y., Jerry Coville of Florida, Phillip Coville of Albion, N.Y.; sisters Karen Sedita and Sandy Milks of N.Y.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Gladys Coville; husband Clayton Scharping; brothers Art Coville, Robert Coville, Don Coville, and Kenneth Coville and sisters Gloria Coville and Margret Coville.
Pallbearers will be John Milks, Joey Bounds, Thomas Wilson, Ed Aguilar, Randy Scott, Patrick Serna, Glenn Ferguson and CNS Nursing Staff.
Cope Memorial Chapel in Gallup, NM is in charge of arrangements.
