Ruth Afton (Bloomfield) McGee

Our dear mother, Ruth Afton Bloomfield McGee, passed away in her sleep on December 13th at the age of 98.

Ruth was born February 19, 1917, in Farmington, NM. She lived at Toadlena, NM, until she was married to Roscoe McGee in 1936. They lived their early years together at Red Mesa Trading Post, AZ. As the children grew older they eventually moved to Farmington, NM.

Ruth was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many positions in the church, and was still serving at the time of her death. She also served on the San Juan Soil and Water Conservation Board and many other civic positions.

Ruth was preceded in death by her dear husband Roscoe H. McGee, her parents George and Lucy Bloomfield, and her eight siblings.

Survivors include her children, Grace Reeves and husband Don of Farmington, NM, Sharron Petty and husband Claude of Las Vegas, NV, Roscoe McGee Jr and wife Brenda, of Albuquerque, NM, Lucinda Arrington and husband John of La Plata, NM, Sheila Fishburn and husband Scot of La Plata, NM, Dwight McGee and wife Regina of
La Plata, NM and Larry McGee and wife Jacqueline of Cortez, CO. 33 Grandchildren, 96 Great grandchildren, 17 Great great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 28 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 400 W. Apache St. in Farmington. Interment will follow at 12:30 p.m. in Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington. The family will accept friends Sunday evening 7:00 to 9:00, at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington.
