Rudy "Buddy" Ferrari, 80, of Bloomfield passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. Buddy was born in Bloomfield, December 4, 1933, to parents Rudy and Albina Ferrari (Stagena).

Buddy graduated from Aztec High School in 1952. He married his sweetheart, Judith Jones, on November 12, 1960. For 35 years, he worked for El Paso natural Gas Company,and in 1993 he co-founded Ferrari Gas Measurement with his brother, Derald, where he continued to work while maintaining his farm.

As a prominent member of the Bloomfield community for all of his 80 years, Buddy was well known and well regarded. He was an outdoorsman, a laborer, a farmer,a business owner, a rancher, a gentleman, a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a great-grandfather. He was a real-life cowboy through and through. Buddy's life was in his labor, and his loves were his family, friends and the outdoors. He had a passion for hunting and fishing and trips to the mountains on horseback. He enjoyed the sunrise and sunset, and hours between he could be found working on his ranch. His integrity and courage were an inspiration to his family, and will be greatly missed.

Buddy was preceded in death by his father, Rudy Ferrari; his mother, Albina Ferrari; his brother, Derald Ferrari; and sisters, Anita Crane and Evelyn Wimsatt.

He is survived by his wife Judith Ferrari; sons, Brian Ferrari and Lainie Slavey, of Bloomfield, Lance Ferrari and wife, Pat, of El Paso, Texas, and Dennis Ferrari and wife, Melanie, of Farmington; grandchildren, Nicoll Ferrari, Sheena Lewis and Reggie Powell, Clarissa Curry, Cara and Shane Lewis, Justin Ferrari, Chance Slavey, Alyssa Ferrari, Justin Slavey, Aaron Ferrari and Devin Ferrari; and great-granchildren, Darious Powell, Devante Powell, Izayiah Powell, Nevaeh Jewell, NoahLewis and Paige Lewis. In addition, his remaining kin includes numerous nieces, nephews and other cherished family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. on Saturday, February 22, at the Ferrari Ranch, 301 Ferrari Ranch Road in Bloomfield. Friends and relatives are welcome to attend.
