Roland Ray Sims Jr., 76, of Farmington, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014. Ray was born Salinas, California to Roland and Edith Sims on April 7, 1937. He graduated from Yuma Union High School in Yuma, Arizona where he played varsity football for four years and was All State in 1955. He married Patricia Grace on July 15, 1955 in Yuma. He retired from Arizona Public Service Company after 38 years. More recently, he worked part time for Cascade Water to keep busy. He loved hunting, fishing, his annual high school reunions with friends, and spending time with his family. Ray was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (2004) and his mother, father and brother, Ronnie. Ray is survived by his sister, Janice Martin; three children, Michael (Carol), Sheri Lamonte (James), and David (Ginger). He has seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Michael Sims, David Sims, Brad Sims, James Lamonte, Danny Lamonte, and Tim Lamonte. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Heart Association. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Chapel, 103 East Ute St., in Farmington. A private family burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
