Roger Perkins, age 53, of Bloomfield, was reunited with his daughter in the arms of our Lord on March 1, 2021 following a brief battle with cancer.
Roger was born in Farmington, NM on March 29, 1967 and spent most of his life in the area. He broke out in the oilfield at the age of 16 and never slowed down. The oilfield is what he knew, and he did it all. Most of his early days in the patch were spent as a roustabout. He eventually moved into plunger lift and then sales, where he planned to finish out his career. You would be very hard pressed to find a better salesman. Roger knew everyone and made many lifelong friends along the way. His work ethic and dedication were second to none. He was well respected and well known throughout the industry in many states.
Roger’s passions in life were his family, his friends, grilling and beer. Few could match his grilling or beer drinking skills. He loved fishing and felt most at peace in the mountains. His sense of humor was larger than life and his stories and songs were the best, whether made up or from his life experiences. His bedtime stories hold a special place in the hearts of his nieces and nephews.
Roger had the ability to make friends everywhere he went. It didn’t matter if it was the person at the next gas pump or the panhandler outside the restaurant on vacation, he was going to visit with them. Once you were his friend, it was for life.
Roger was a member of Animas Masonic Lodge #15. He was initiated into the fraternity on January 6, 2004. Passed to the degree of fellowcraft on August 17, 2004. And raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on June 22, 2005.
Roger was preceded in death by his daughter Olivia Jade Perkins, grandson Ryder James Perkins, sister Amy Perkins and father Roger H. Perkins.
Our hero is survived by his wife of 28 years, Rhonda Perkins of Bloomfield, daughter Candace Perkins of Bloomfield, granddaughter/BFF Melody Goodwin of Bloomfield, mother Patricia Perkins of Bloomfield, sister Kelly Wimsatt of Dutchman’s Hill, sister Robin Archibeque of Bloomfield and many nieces and nephews.
