Robert "Rocky" Thomas Wasson, 68 of Navajo Dam, NM passed away on March 4, 2015. He was born on July 15, 1946 in Garfield, NM to William "Shorty" Arthur Wasson and Jo Evelyn Wasson.
Rocky grew up in Hatch, NM and moved to Aztec, NM in 1981. He was a graduate of New Mexico State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting. Rocky worked as an accountant first for the City of Aztec and later for San Juan County. He also served two terms as the San Juan County Treasurer from 2004 - 2012. Rocky's favorite pastime was fishing on the San Juan River. He was known for his silly jokes, kind pranks and love of God and family.
Rocky was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves behind his sons Edward Wasson of Dallas, TX and Steve (Carmelita) Wasson of Nevada City, CA; brothers Lewis (Jan) Wasson of Albuquerque, NM, Larry (Nancy) Wasson of Georgetown, TX, and Norman (Margaret) Wasson of Tijeras, NM; sisters Callie (Bob) Smith of Sun City West, AZ and Evelyn (Dan) Johnson of Alamogordo, NM; and granddaughter Sybella De La Luz Wasson.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Aztec Church of Christ, 201 Ruins Rd, with Pastor Johnathan Dobbs officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The National Kidney Foundation in memory of Rocky Wasson.
