Robert Anthony Labash was born into Eternal Life on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2015. He was born in Gary, Ind., on Dec. 31, 1938, to Thomas A. Labash and Goldie A. (Kuruzovich) Labash. Bob married Geraldine A. Reilly on July 4, 1964. He graduated St. Joseph the Worker Elementary School, Tolleston High School and Purdue University with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. Bob served eight years as a medic in the Indiana National Guard. He worked at Inland Steel for 21 years before he and his family moved to New Mexico in 1978. He was employed at PNM until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Farmington and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed woodworking and anything where he could apply his EET expertise. His generosity and compassion were evident in his kindness and gracious service toward family and friends. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his hugs. Bob is survived by Gerry, his wife of 51 years, daughters Mary A. Labash, Albuquerque, Sarah A. Labash, Farmington Bridget A. (Steve) Asbe, Farmington and precious granddaughter, Danica A. Asbe whom he lovingly called Fidget. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia (G. Thomas) Harding, Colo., brothers, Donald (Nancy), California, Richard, Washington, and David (Cathy), Illinois. A rosary will be led by Anne Weigel at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 12, at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 414 N. Allen Ave. Farmington. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13 with Father Tim Farrell as the celebrant, also at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. A private inurnment will take place at a later time.
