Dan C. White, 88, of Farmington, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2013, in Farmington. He was born March 7, 1925, in Jethro, Ark., to Oscar and Fannie White. He served in the U.S. Navy from July 12, 1943 to Aug. 5, 1971. He served in WWII, Korean War and in Vietnam. Dan was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion, The Retired Enlisted Association and the Fleet Reserve Association. Dan worked 18 years for Navajo Mine and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was a member of the Elks Club. Dan's hobbies were coin collecting, gardening and tracing his ancestry. But he mostly loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was an awesome father and grandpa. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Dan is preceded in death by his wife, F. Louise White; son, J. Frank White; parents; Frederick Lee White and Oscar Frank White and his sister, Edith Parrish.He is survived by his son, David C. White; daughter, Anita L. (William P.) Slusser; sister, Ruth Moore, of Pasadena, Texas; grandchildren, Tami (Mason) Henderson, Tracey (Paul) Hughes, Charlene (Dustin) Garrison, Kimberly Slusser and Misty Hopkins; great-grandchildren, Kalani West, Blake Wilson, Tristen Williams, William Hughes, Alyssa Henderson, Autumn Garrison, Ryan Garrison, T.J. Hughes, Brenden Wilson and numerous nephews and nieces in Arkansas and Texas.A visitation will be 7 to 8 p.m. today, July 9, at Cope Memorial Chapel in Farmington.A funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10, also at Cope Memorial Chapel.Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington. Pallbearers are Mason Henderson, Paul Hughes, Dustin Garrison, Kalani West, Blake Wilson and William P. Slusser. Memorials can be made to the Intrepid Fallen Hero's Fund at www.fallenherosfund.org or Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org. Dan's care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 W.
