Rita Mae Curran, age 92, passed away in her sleep on August 4, 2016 at her daughter's home in Bloomfield, New Mexico. Rita was a generous and caring person who was loved by many. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, John Patrick Curran, and by her sister, Teresa Sei.
During WWII, she received a nursing scholarship, earned her degree, and then joined the Cadet Nurse Corps program. For years Rita worked tirelessly as a registered nurse. The memory of her grace, elegance, and charisma will be forever held in the hearts of family and friends.
Rita bragged that her parents expected her "to become educated and contribute to society," a legacy that endures through her son, Daniel Patrick Curran and wife Kathy; her daughter, Kathleen Hendrix; four grandchildren, Alicia Stegall and husband Mikel, Nicole Hendrix and fiance Kevin, Taylor Rodgers, and Lauren Rodgers; three great-grandchildren, Kateyln Schwartz, Jesse Stegall, and Devon Stegall.
Rita was preceded in death by her daughter Trish Rodgers and son-in-law Ted Hendrix.
Services will be held at St. Mary's in Bloomfield NM, on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 9:30am. The burial service will be at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 2:15pm. Rita's care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 W. Arrington, Farmington. (505) 327-5142
