Richard A. Real 1941-2014
Richard "Rick" A. Real, 72, of Farmington, NM, passed away on Saturday, June 21, 2014. He was born on December 11, 1941, in Williams, Arizona, to Lewis A. Real and Margaret Joanne Stidham. Rick grew up in Winslow, AZ, were he graduated from Winslow High School in 1959. After graduating , Rick joined the Navy and proudly served his country for three years. After receiving his honorable discharge he attended NAU in Flagstaff. Rick met his wife Marilyn J. Johnson in Yuma, AZ, while working for the State of Arizona, in the Unemployment Department. They were married 41 years before her death, 4 years ago. Rick retired after 35 years with the State of Arizona. Rick was a life time member of the Elk's Club and a member of the "calcuscampers" of Yuma. Rick is preceded in death by his wife Marilyn; his parents Lewis and Margaret; and grandparents George and Sarah Real and Everton and Rena Stidham. Rick is survived by his sister Margaret Annette Goodwin and brother-in-law Ed Goodwin; 2 nephews and their families; 1 cousin of Albuquerque; 4 sister-in-laws; 3 brother-in-laws; and numerous nieces and nephews in Nebraska. A rosary will be recited at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, with a memorial mass to follow at 2:00 pm, at San Juan Catholic Center located at #11 CR 6446, Kirtland, NM, with Father Pat McGuire as celebrant. Interment will be at the Springfield Cemetery in Springfield, Nebraska at a later date. Rick is to be buried next to his wife beloved wife Marilyn. A special thank you to the staff at Bee Hive Home #2 of Farmington, for the loving care that was given to Rick during the three years he lived there. We would also to thank Dr. Ronald Li, Dr. Harold McFarling and the Northwest Hospice staff, for their care of Rick. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northwest Hospice and the American Diabetes Association.
