Richard Brown was born on July 11, 1961 in Englewood Co. He passed away May 24, 2017, in Grants NM. Richard served six years in the Marine Reserves. Richard than retired from the reserves and served his community as a Grants Police Officer for sixteen years, and as a Motor Transportation Officer for seven years. He then retired from law enforcement and worked as a security guard. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family.
Richard is survived by his Wife, Marilyn Brown, his three children Michael Brown and his wife Jaclyn Brown, James Brown, Nicole Townsend and her husband Erek. His five grandchildren Rachael, Michael, Wyatt, Kerelynn Townsend and Natalie Brown. Siblings: Johnny Brown, Randy Brown(Barb), Dawn Cronin, Tammy Miranda(Frank), Tiffani Grow(Keith). He was the son to Lois and Jim Godbey, and Jim and Dora Brown, in-laws Paul and Lou King. Brother-in-laws; David King, Roger King, and Stacey King. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Richard will be missed by all the friends and family he leaves behind.
On Saturday May 27, 2017 at 1st Baptist Church of Grants, a visitation will begin at 10:00 am, then at 11:00 am a funeral service will be celebrated. Burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park. Grants Police Department will serve as honor guard. The family will receive friends and family at the Grants Milan Elks Lodge following the interment.
Pallbearers include: Michael Brown, James Brown, Erek Townsend, DJ Shoemaker, Scott Armstrong, and Tony Williams.
Honorary Pallbearers include: Johnny Brown, Randy Brown, Tommy McDowell, and all of his grandchildren.
Cope Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
