Rennie Lynn Gray McRight, 43, of Farmington, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, in Farmington. She was born March 3, 1971, in Perryton, Texas, to Ron Gray and Brenda Dunn.
Rennie graduated high school in 1989, in Hooker, Okla. She moved to Farmington in 2002. Rennie graduated from nursing school at San Juan College in 2007. She began working at San Juan Regional Medical Center soon after. She started on the nephrology floor and then transitioned to the emergency department.
Rennie was very adventurous and outgoing. She always wanted to try new things, so she went skydiving, flew solo in an airplane and she enjoyed jumping off waterfalls. She wasn't afraid of anything. She was also very compassionate. She was extremely good with patients as a nurse; she had a way of putting them at ease. With patients and friends she was genuinely interested in them, and as a result she was loved by everyone.
Rennie organized a family that was sponsored at Christmas by the Emergency Room every year. If donations weren't enough to cover them she would pay for them out of her own pocket.
She had a razor wit and was always ready with a comeback, and an amazing sense of humor. She was also very independent and incredibly proud.
Rennie's interests included horses (she had worked for the American Quarter Horse Association in Amarillo, Texas), the Texas Longhorns, and real cowboys (not those city cowboys) with Wranglers, a black cowboy hat and a smile. She had a very strong faith and relationship with God. This was her favorite scripture:
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. -Philippians 4:13
Rennie was preceded in death by her grandparents, Bob and Ernestine Gray. She is survived by her son Brayden McRight; daughter Hannah McRight; parents, Ron (Doris) Gray of Guyman, Okla. and Brenda Dunn of California; and grandparents, Bob and Bobbie Dunn.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 5 at Piñon Hills Community Church, 5101 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington, with Pastor Tim Hargrove officiating.
