Raymond Leonard Welch passed away at his home on September 14, 2020. He was 91 years of age. He was born in Vancouver, Canada.
Mr. Welch served in the United States Air Force as a radarman during the Korean conflict. Upon discharge he moved to Beckley, West Virginia. He came to Continental Divide, NM, eventually settling in Gallup, where he was the manager for BF Goodrich Tire & Rubber Company. He was also a talented sewing machine repairman. He was a devoted family man that was loved and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife Mary Welch. His son; Ben Welch and his wife Janice. His grandchildren; Ben Neil Welch, Angelo Welch, Aaron Welch, Mike Holland, and Jessica Brooks. His great-grandchildren; Leo Welch, Kye Welch, and Mya Welch, Mckenzi Jo Agnes Brooks, Alexis Nachero, Kennedi Lynn Brooks, Donnie Brooks, and Mickey Lee Brooks. His brother; Harold Welch and his wife Shelby. His nephews; Mark Welch, Randy Welch, and Kirk Welch. One niece; Linda Pederson. His sister-in-law Geraldine Welch. His brother-in-law; Manuel Garcia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Celemente Bascomb Welch and Inez Snuffer Welch. One son; Jason Welch. One sister; Virginia Mitchell. Two brothers; Benjamin Franklin Welch and William Welch.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service is scheduled for September 26, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Cemetery with Pastor Jay McCollum, First Baptist Church of Gallup. Veterans Helping Veterans providing the Military Honor Guard.
Pallbearers include Ben D. Welch, Ben N. Welch, Angelo V. Welch, Aaron R. Welch, Manuel J. Garcia, Harold “Cotton” Welch, Lisa Gonzales-Ortiz.
Honorary Pallbearers include Bob Harper, Randy Welch, Bob Gillis, Mark Welch, Tom Salaz, Ray Taylor, and Bill Tschumper.
Cope Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
