Ramona Jackson, 96 of Farmington passed away on Thursday May 5, 2016. Ramona was born February 26, 1920 in Springer, NM to Raymond (Shorty) and Winnie House. The House family homesteaded in Cuba, NM traveling there in covered wagons. In May of 1925, Ramona traveled with her family to Farmington where she lived the majority of her life. In 1940 Ramona married Carl Miller in California, they had three children together. Ramona married Bob Smith in 1947, and they remained married until his death in 1976. In 1977, Ramona married Kenny Jackson until his death in 1993. Ramona worked for Mountain Bell telephone, working her way up from a switch board operator to chief telephone operator. She worked 27 years for Mountain Bell until her retirement in 1976, when the phone company relocated to Albuquerque.
Ramona was a dedicated wife, employee and outstanding cook. She loved to read books, work crossword puzzles, spend time in the mountains and enjoyed visits from her family. Ramona was preceded in death by her husband Carl Miller; Robert Smith and Kenny Jackson, ;Parents, Raymond (Shorty) and Winnie House, brothers Roy (Happy) House; and George House; Daughter Cheryl Miller: and step-son Jim Jackson and daughter in-law Janet Jackson. She is survived by her sons, Robert Smith and wife Karen of Bernalillo, NM, Timothy Miller and wife Polly of Farmington and Raymond Miller and wife Nickie of Vallecito, Colorado. Brother, Kenneth House; Sisters, Cora Jones, Lois Givler and Winnie June Hardy; eleven Grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be on Saturday May 14th at 10:00 a.m. at Brewer Lee and Larkin Funeral Home 103 E. Ute St. Farmington. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Ramona's name to the Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org/donate or the Parkinson's Association www.michaeljfox.org/Find_A_Cure
