Phillis Jean McCoy, 79, of Flora Vista, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, in Flora Vista. She was born May 16, 1934, in Mountaineer, New Mexico.
Phillis loved to sing and worship her Savior. She loved her family, church, planting and growing flowers. She worked for the BIA in Gallup and Aztec public schools as a secretary and retired from H and R Block.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Franklin; parents, Wheeler and Etta Meadows; brother John Meadows; sisters, Thyra Wallace and Virginia Holley.
Phillis is survived by her husband, Lyle Leroy McCoy; sons, Russell "Rusty" Franklin, Mark Brian (Christina) Franklin, Rick (Dianne) McCoy; daughters, Jennifer (Don) Martinez, Tracie (Kenneth) Ray; brothers Phil Meadows and Jimmy Meadows; sister, Margaret (Preston) Gobble; grandchildren, Lisa McClain, Justin McCoy, Devin Franklin, Camille Franklin, Niklas Franklin; great-grandchildren, Bethany Ray, Hudson McClain, Harper McClain and Drake McCoy.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at First Baptist Church, 700 Navajo Ave. in Aztec, with Dr. Kevin Parker officiating.
Interment will follow in the Aztec Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Russell Franklin, Mark Franklin, Dale Haygood, Buddy Holley, James Lackey and John Meadows.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Aztec.
Phillis' care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel of Aztec, 405 S. Main Ave., 505-334-9332.
