Phillip Dale Smith, 57, of Aztec, passed from this world to his heavenly home on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 in Aztec. He was born on June 26, 1959 in Odessa, Texas to H. L. "Cotton" Smith and Hylma Smith.
Phillip was a graduate of Permian High school. He was an entrepreneur and had several businesses during his lifetime. He loved race cars not only to collect and work on but to race them himself. He was also an avid gun collector and could talk for hours on the history of each gun he owned.
He was preceded in death by his parents Cotton and Hylma and his brother Stephen.
He is survived by his wife Robyn; mother and father-in-law Betty and James Farley; brother-in-law Robert and his daughter Dusty; step-son Jessie Shelton and step-daughter Nerissa Shelton; best friend Joel and wife Barbara Theodosia; daughters, Samantha Tarr(Josh) of San Angelo, Jacoby Jones(Bryan) of Amarillo; brother Andrew Smith(Beth) of Odessa; grandchildren Corey, Hannah and Finley; nieces Haley Hibbs(Jeffrey), Emily and Amber; nephews Drew, Zachery and Joshua.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, October 19, 2016, at Bethal Baptist, 201 Heiland Rd, in Aztec. Bob Schlauger will be the officiant for the service.
