Perry Phelps, 82, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 surrounded by his family. Perry was born Oct. 7, 1933, at home in Mancos to Henry Phelps and Bessie (Mulnix) Phelps.
Perry met his wife Ann (Salisbury) Phelps in 1959, in Farmington. They were married for 56 joyous years. They were married in Bloomfield, at the First Baptist Church.
Perry was a Christian, Mason, Shriner and he was a veteran who served during the Korean War. He loved to talk to people about God. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, prospecting, and being with his family and friends. He enjoyed spending as much time with his grandchildren as he could.
Perry worked in the natural gas field for more than 30 years, until he retired from Williams Field Services in 1990. He later worked for Wal-Mart for 10 years before retiring again. He was a fourth generation from Mancos, Durango, Silverton and Farmington area. His relatives were part of the Baker Party settlers.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; his two sons, Thomas and wife, Kathy of Durango, Colo., Daniel and wife, Misti of Farmington; two brothers, Ray and Herald of Bloomfield; three grandchildren, Nathan, Matthew and wife, Courtney and Donna and husband, Joe; one great-grandchild; and two more on the way. He is also survived by numerous cousins and very large extended family.
A memorial celebration for Perry Phelps will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Calvary Chapel, 6925 E. Main St. in Farmington.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cope Memorial Chapel of Farmington, to help offset funeral expense.
