David Brinkley, 86, of Farmington, passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2018, in Farmington. He was born Dec. 2, 1931, in Lancaster, Ohio to Paul McKinley Brinkley and Henrietta Minnie Braunswieg.
David attended Lutheran Day School and Albuquerque High. He had a U.S. Navy career. David worked for the State of New Mexico, San Juan County, and was a Plumbing Inspector; followed by twenty-two years as owner of Brinkley Plumbing and Heating. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling and fixing things.
David's military service was in the U.S. Navy. He was enlisted June 1949 through March 1972. After 22 years of service he retired as Chief Warrant Officer. David served on aircraft Carriers in Tonkin Gulf including the USS Ranger, USS Constellation and USS Hancock.
David is survived by his wife, Zola Marie Brinkley; sons, Paul (Roxana), Matthew and Steve; daughters, Dennie (David) and Marty; nieces, Lynda (Barry), Rhonda and Brenda (Wayne); and grandchildren, Kimberly, Tristen, Michaela, Kevin, Nathan, Steven, Eric, Erin, Aimee, Martha, KC and Ida.
A memorial service for David will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27 at Zion Lutheran Church, 7455 Foothills Drive in Farmington.
David's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington, 505-325-8688. Those who wish to express their condolences may do so at serenityandcompany.com.
