Poem - The Journey Home
By Lorin Jones - 5 June 2014
How can we bid a fond farewell,
To a man who never died
Who still lives on within the arms
Of his Savior and his Christ
It's true he left this earthly realm
He was called to journey home
To where he'll never feel the pain
That he often used to know
This man was father, and a son
A husband and a brother
And in so many wondrous ways
His love was like no other
He never spoke in anger,
And he never harbored hate
And he never doubted that his God
Would raise him from the grave
His family was a treasure
A treasure not of gold
Not hardened stones, that shine with light
But love that he could hold
Within his heart, and with this love
He loved his precious wife
Through all the years they shared their love
They traveled side by side
He loved his son, his only one,
He taught him many things,
But most of all he taught the truth
Of what true goodness brings.
He loved his friends, he loved his life
He loved the work he did
And in the hours of endless toil
Gave more than any gives
He loved to fish, he loved to bike
The Harley was his choice
The rumble that the engine made
Was Heaven's song of joy
He cherished all those special days
The summer, sunlit road
The feel of wind upon his face
That every biker knows
And as he watches from afar
From where we know he is
He'll smile with each sweet memory
As with them he relives
The moments that he cherished most
And dreams that never die
The warm embrace of every soul
That ever touched his life
We know he's there in Heaven
And I have no doubt he's glad
To be in that far better place
Than the place that once he had
But I have to think , that when he left
I'm sure we heard the roar
Of a Harley starting on the road
That leads to Heaven's door
The previous poem is a remembrance of Olan Lee Divine. He was born on October 2, 1949, and journeyed to his Heavenly rest on June 4, 2014.
He was a man of great love and integrity. He was kind and giving and always in possession of a calm and gentle countenance. He worked as hard as any man could labor, and did so without complaint or bitterness. He was truly a special man on earth, and we know he is now a special spirit in Heaven.
His parents were Olan F. Divine and Betty J. Divine
He is survived by his wonderful wife, Kendra, his son Olan, his daughter in love Heather, and his two grandchildren, Garrett Ortiz, and Aiden Divine, all of Aztec, and Farmington, NM.
He is survived by two younger brothers, Gary Divine, and Darrell Divine, and two younger sisters, Donna Jones and Debbie Mahan, all from southwestern Missouri.
Countless are the relatives and friends, unmentioned by name here, that he loved, and who loved him.
And thanks most of all to his God, who brought him home when the time was right and the need was great. To the Lord, we will always be especially grateful.
