Nina Faye Franklin, 84, of Farmington, passed away on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at home surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born May 21, 1930, in Stonewall County, Texas, to William Marshall and Lela Robertson Thigpan.
Faye has gone home to the loving arms of her heavenly Father, her husband, daughter, parents, brothers and sisters, who welcomed her.
Faye was a transplanted Texan who grew to love her adopted area and the people who live here. Her home and heart were open to her family and friends. Her favorite pastimes included spending time with loved ones, reading Louis L'Amour books and listening to Strauss waltzes.
Faye was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Franklin; daughter Celia Franklin; parents, Marshall and Lela Thigpen; brothers, W.L. Thigpen, Merlin Ray Thigpen and Herschel Edward Thigpen; and her sisters, Minnie Geneva Naylor and Ira Verneil Cox.
She is cherished in memory by her sons, Tommy (Vickie) Franklin and Edwin Franklin; daughters, Carol Franklin, Debra Olson and Mary Tullis; brother James A. Thigpen; sister Jonell Schrieber; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind 15 adored grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and one joyously expected great-great-grandchild. Included in Faye's legacy of love are many children of the heart who thought of her as their second mom.
A private family memorial service was at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
