Nicky Scott James

August 3, 1963 — September 18, 2015

Nick James 52, returned to his Heavenly Father on September 18, 2015. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He was a life long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Nicky Scott James was born August 3, 1963 in Monument Valley, Utah to Bob and Lorraine Hunt James, the second in a family that grew to include seven sons and one daughter. He passed away from renal failure in Farmington, New Mexico.

The first year of his life the family lived in Mexican Hat, Utah, Houston, Texas and Blanding, Utah. In March 1965 they moved to Cortez, Colorado and that is where Nick grew up. He graduated from high school there in 1981.

He married Arla Acrey January 21, 1983 and they had three children: Jonathan, Alden and Chelsey. They moved to Farmington in 1995 and they divorced in 1999.

Over the years he worked in the Aneth, Utah oil field for several different companies- RandR, NL, Big A, and Pool. He worked for Key Energy for 14 years in Farmington. He spent most of those years as a rig operator.

On his 39th birthday, August 3, 2002 he married Glenda Taylor Wessler, his high school sweetheart and adopted her daughter, Samantha. Nick and Glenda then had a son named Nicolas Glenn James who Nick knew was supposed to be a part of his family has truly been a bright light in his life. His family brought joy back into his life.

Nick suffered from hereditary nephritis. He went into renal failure in 1992 and received a kidney transplant in June 1993. In 2005, it began failing and in 2006 he went back on dialysis which continued to the end of his life.

Nick loved being a mechanic and working on all types of motorized vehicles. He could make anything run. He loved to ride dirt bikes, four wheelers and drive his speed boat.

Nick was an optimist. He was cheerful and happy through the many trials of his life. He loved people and saw potential in all he met.

Nicolas says that his dad loved his family and did everything he could for them. He was a good man. Samantha says he was kind, loving, generous and a good father. Glenda says he was a loving, caring husband, and a great provider. He did everything he could to make people happy.

He is survived by his wife Glenda, children Jonathan (Kathy) of Kirtland, Alden, and Chelsey of Cortez, Colorado, Samantha and Nicolas James of Farmington and three granddaughters, Alexis, Arianna and Gabriella. Also survived by his parents Bob and Lorraine James of Farmington, siblings Robert (Kathy) of Hobbs, NM, Chris, (Debbie) of Farmington, Eric (Ammy) of Kirtland NM, TiaLisa (John) Lente of Augusta, GA, Michael (Brandy) of Pampa, Texas, Darin (Lea) of Farmington grandmother Betty James of Farmington and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother Gary James in 2010 and grandparents George James, Ula Stevens and Ben Hunt

Viewing will be at 9:00am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints 1310 E 25th St in Farmington. Funeral service will be at 10:00 am with Bishop Steve Nygren officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery 6917 E Main, Farmington. Nick's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee, and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E Ute St, (505) 325-8688
