Nestor "Torry" Alfonso Sanchez

Nestor "Torry" Alfonso Sanchez 80, of Farmington NM passed away on Thursday May 19th, 2016. He was born on August 3rd 1935 to Nicholas Sanchez and Rosa Tafoya in Farmington NM.

Torry graduated from Farmington High School in 1953. He joined the Marines in 1954 and served 4 years where he was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California and Kaneohe in Hawaii. He worked at Valley Packing, the Gas Buggy Project and Utah International. In 1973, he started his own business, Torry and Al's Electric, as an electrical contractor where he worked for 43 years.

Torry is preceded in death by his daughters Monica Sanchez Dunn and Diane Lovato. Parents Nicholas Sanchez, Rosa and Juan Tafoya. Brothers William Sanchez and Ramon Tafoya.

He is survived by his wife Dora Sanchez; children, Gerald Gallegos, Teresa Sanchez (Rick Jacquez), Billy Sanchez and Dena (Peter) Silberman; grandchildren, Dennis Luther, Krista (Adam) Dobbs, Michael Cortez, Nestor (Julie) Cortez, Nichole (Louis) Visser, Billie Jo Sanchez, Jennifer (Jeff) Morrison, Melanie Hargrove, Amanda (Chris) Felt, Katie Fred and Nikki (Greg) Tafoya. Brothers Larry Sanchez, David (Jane) Tafoya, Abel Tafoya and Mark (Gloria) Tafoya; 24 great-grand children and 3 great-great-grand children.

The rosary for Torry will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Monday, May 23, 2016, at 7:00pm; and funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Church on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at 10:00am, followed by burial at Greenlawn Cemetary. Pallbearers will be Michael Cortez, Nestor Cortez, Christopher Cortez, Asher Vigil, Amani Vigil and Dylan Hall. Honorary Pallbearers are Larry Sanchez, Mark Tafoya, Able Tafoya, David Tafoya, Wilbur Brack, Celso Rodriguez, Buster Jacquez, Johnny Lovato and Adolphus Caramillo, Raymond Armenta, Ernie Montoya, Rick Jacquez, Jeff Cassados, Lloyd Mascarenas and Michael Jacquez . In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Little Sisters of the Poor 1900 Mark Ave, Gallup, NM, 87301.

Torry's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., in Farmington. (505)325-8688.
