Nellie Mae Christensen passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at the age of 74 years. She will be greatly missed by many friends, family, and loved ones. Nellie Mae was born in Bluewater, New Mexico, to Charles and Marvia Goodwin; who raised her with a great deal of love. After living her early years in St. George, Utah, the family moved to Farmington, in 1952, where she lived and loved the rest of her life. One year after high school graduation, she married Samuel Christensen, who "chased" her all through her school years, until she finally caught him. They were so happy they felt that the world was theirs; but for one thing, no little ones. So after seven years a wonderful little boy, only 4 ½ pounds, came into their lives; not by the usual route but by adoption; followed two years later by a beautiful baby girl. Dwain is a very special child and will never enjoy the blessing of marriage or children; but is always very happy and loves everyone. Tanya has three boys and one girl; and one very beautiful, seven month old baby girl, Kirra Mae, Nellie's first great-grand baby. Nellie Mae lived a life with many health trials, but has always lived her life to the fullest. Just being around her made you feel good. An excellent cook, bread, and pie baker, she loved sharing her talent. She enjoyed gardening, caring for her home, and traveling; especially to see grandchildren. She was a very devout church member, and served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and for many years worked with the youth. She will be greatly missed by so many of us, but our lives are better for having known her and feeling her love. A viewing will be held at Brewer, Lee and Larkin, Funeral Home, on Wednesday, October 9, 6:00 o'clock p.m to 8:00 o'clock p.m. Services for Nellie Mae will be held Thursday, October 10, 10:00 o'clock a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 400 West Apache St, Farmington, with Milton Harris officiating. Final resting place will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin, Farmington. Arrangements have been made through Brewer, Lee, and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., Farmington. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all relatives and friends who were so kind and supportive during this time. Your kindness will always be remembered.
