Nellie Arellano

Nellie Werito, 73, of Aztec, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, in Aztec. She was born July 19, 1942, in Tinian, to George and Tillie Werito.
Nellie was the oldest of her siblings. She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt. Her hobbies were sewing, jewelry making, doing craft shows, gardening, bowling and golfing. She enjoyed cooking and having family gatherings. Nellie loved roasting and making her famous green chile and yeast rolls. She loved road trips. Her favorite was with her three sisters to the Crow Nation Fair in Montana.
She was raised as a rancher in her childhood years along with her younger brother, Leo. She worked as a bus driver for people with special needs and for head start in Farmington, for most of her life. Nellie was the biggest fan of the Denver Broncos and John Elway was her favorite QB.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, George and Tillie Werito, her grandson, Joshua Osborn; and her brother in-Laws, Bruce Carter and Frank Hunt. She is survived by her sons, Vincent Benally, Thomas Benally Jr., Valgene Benally and Anthony Burns; daughters, Tammy Gutierrez and Cindy Burns; six brothers, Leo Werito, Andy Werito, George Werito Jr., his wife Grace, Johnny Werito, Kenneth Werito, his wife Lorilee, and Leroy Werito; three sisters, Louise Werito Carter, Rosita Werito, and Juanita Hunt; 21 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. before the funeral Mass. The funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 307 N. Church St. in Bloomfield with Father James Walker as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery, 427 W. Cemetery Road, off of U.S. Highway 550, in Bloomfield. A reception will be at the Parish Hall in Bloomfield.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Molina, Charles Gutierrez, Eric Benally, Bryce Benally, David Benally, and Al Charley.
Nellie's care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel of Kirtland, 458 Road 6100, 505-598-9636.
