Nancy Paulette Capps, 76, left this world surrounded by loved ones on July 15, 2021, to join Jesus and her many loved ones that have gone before. Nancy loved Jesus with all her heart and lived her life expressing His love to everyone that knew her.
In her last few days, she told a dear friend about a dream she had:
“I dreamed I was dancing in heaven, barefoot in a white dress in a field of white lilies. There was so much light. It was beautiful. Jesus was so kind. He greeted everyone equally. He was just so kind. Each person was special”.
Nancy reflected that same kindness and acceptance to everyone she ever met. As a young child and throughout her life, Nancy loved to dance and worship. Now, she is literally dancing before Jesus, her first love! "He who began a good work in Nancy was faithful to complete it!"
At the young age of 16, Nancy eloped to Mexico with the love of her life, James D. Capps. Nancy was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom to five daughters and multiple foster kids. Her family was the joy of her life and she supported and celebrated every family member in a unique way making each person feel special.
She was known for being a fierce prayer warrior and loved praise and worship dancing with her dear Christian worship team.
Nancy joins her parents Vesta and Rowland Cobb in heaven. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Jim Capps and her five daughters and their husbands: Kristi and Rick DeVilbiss of Farmington, New Mexico; Terri and Jeff Karlin of San Tan Valley, Arizona; Tonya and Lorenzo Thompson of Casa Grande, Arizona; Rachael Bratten of Moorpark, California; and Candy and Joey Gonzales of Farmington, New Mexico. Additionally, she is survived by her brother and his wife, Ty and Charla Cobb, and niece, Nikki Cobb all of Amarillo, Texas; her foster son and his wife, Guy and DeeDee Stalcup of Buckeye, Arizona, ten grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and multiple cousins.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Nancy at Calvary Chapel, 6925 East Main St. in Farmington, New Mexico on July 31st at 3:00 in the afternoon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Compassion International.
The family would like to thank Dr. Neidhardt and his staff, the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, Roots Home Health Agency, and Basin Home Health, for all the care and concern they gave Nancy in her valiant fight against cancer. Likewise, they would like to express their love and appreciation to all the beautiful family and friends who reached out during her three-and-a-half-year journey.
