Gene Spidle passed away on November 26, 2019 in Albuquerque, New Mexico surrounded by his family, he was 75. He was born on August 6, 1944 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Mr. Spidle proudly served in the United States Marine Corp, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam. He retired from Kerr-McGee mine, and from New Mexico District Court where he worked as a Bailiff. He was active with the Post 60 American Legion, VFW Post #3221, and Grants-Milan Elks Lodge. He supported the Grants High School ROTC program, Lady Pirates soccer, and basketball. The annual Toys for Tots drive. He enjoyed traveling and tending to his garden, growing jalapenos, and pumpkins. His greatest joy was spending time with his family especially his grandchildren at their sporting events, he was deeply loved and will be missed.
He is survived by his wife Cynthia Spidle. His children; Melinda Spidle-Tena and her husband Nato, James Spidle and his wife Maxine, and Lori Rael and her husband Eric. Fourteen grandchildren; Amanda, Catherine, Colette, Sean, Bryan, Briana, Arianna, Kaylee, Victoria, Eric, Rachael, Deric, Erica, and Dj. 7 great-grandchildren; Jasen, Lucas, Daxton, Cayden, Justin, Caitlynn, and Kayden. His sisters; Mildred Brown and her husband Gaylen, and Dixie Diaz. Along with numerous other relatives and friends, and special mention of his second family, Cibola General Hospital Staff.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Archie Spidle and Emma Garcia Spidle. And his brother; Glen Spidle.
On Monday December 2, 2019 at 7:00 pm, at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church a Rosary will be recited, led by Sandra Garduno. On Tuesday December 3, 2019 at 11:00 am also at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church a Mass will be celebrated by Father Faustinus Ibebuike. Burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park with VFW Post # 3221 providing Military Honors.
Pallbearers include; Eric Rael, Nato Tena, Bryan Erice, Erik Galindo, Dj Martinez, and Marcos Padilla.
Honorary Pallbearers include all of his nephews and nieces. Cibola General Hospital Staff and his fellow Veterans and Elks.
