MOLLIE NELL (METCALF) SMITH
January 25, 1933 - December 27, 2016

Mollie Nell (Metcalf) Smith, 83, of Farmington left this earth to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington. Mollie was born January 25, 1933 in Broken Bow, Oklahoma to Clarence Metcalf and Zadie Metcalf.

Mollie was welcomed to heaven by the love of her life John W. Smith, and her children John Patrick and Katherine Ann, and her parents.

Mollie started her life in Oklahoma and in west Texas. She met John in 1946 and they married on January 9, 1952 in Clovis, NM. Shortly after they moved to the Farmington area for John's work and lived in Farmington the remainder of their lives. Mom and Dad were very proud of their four children, Mike, Pat, Kathy and Kimi. Mom instilled the love of education and the amazing faith that a mother always has in her children. In the early years, she worked at Foodway on West Main, Citizens Bank, and the Daily Times. After her older kids grew, she also worked at Swinburne Elementary school as a reading assistant in the Chapter 1 program. Mollie loved the kids there and spoke of them for many years to come. In 1990, she began her real estate career at Century 21 SOWESCO Realty, where she found her passion and talent for selling houses and assisting people who were new to the area. Mollie loved Jesus and always taught her children and grandchildren to follow Him and seek guidance from Him. She also loved music, dancing and taught herself to play the piano by ear. Mollie loved her 15 grandchildren. She took great delight in all of their life events including sports, weddings and births. Mollie was there to offer support when life got hard and she always knew what to do and was always willing to go to battle for them. She loved animals and always had multiple cats and dogs in the house. Mollie had many lifelong friends here in Farmington that still bless her life up to the end. Mom and Grandma, we will miss you every day. Your spirit and never ending love will be with us always, we can't wait for the day when you welcome us to heaven. Please hug Dad, Pat and Kathy for us!

Mollie leaves behind her two children Michael Smith (Gennie) of Hillsboro, Orgeon and Kimi Griego (Scott) of Friendswood, Texas; brother, Sonny Metcalf (Dee) of Farmington; her 15 grandchildren, Lisa, Laura, Jared, Tabitha, Joseph, Jesse, Steffani, Aubrey, Bryan, Rebecca, Stephen, Zachary, Kenton, Abigail and Sarah; 17 great-grandchildren; there are many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she loved dearly.
