Milton J. Archuleta, 91, of Blanco, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014, in Blanco. He was born April 1, 1923, in Blanco, to T.S. and Josephine Archuleta.
Milton attended high school in Durango, Colo. and left early because all his brothers had left for the service and he stayed to help out on the family's farm. He married Lucy Serna in 1945. After getting married, they moved to Stockton, Calif. Due to the lack of work in California, he went to Guam with his brother Sal and worked there for over a year. He then returned to Blanco to help his father with the family farm. He eventually purchased the farm where his family currently lives. A man filled with ambition, he cleared the farm of trees and increased the farm from six acres to over 100 irrigated acres,
While raising a family he also worked as heavy equipment operator to supplement his farm income. In 1962, he went to work with the New Mexico Highway Department as patrol foreman and he retired in 1985. He served on the Bloomfield Board of Education for l0 years. He also served the community on numerous agricultural related boards. After retirement he continued farming and ranching until his recent death, In his spare time, he fished and loved spending time with his family telling stories. A loving husband, father, grandfather, we will always miss hearing a "little something."
Milton was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Salomon, Pete, Rueben, Valentine, Onofore and Filimon; sisters, Flora, Esther and Viola; and grandparents; Juan N. and Anna Maria Jacquez and Ricardo and Perfecta Archuleta.
