Mildred "Millie" Ellis of Farmington passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in Farmington, New Mexico. She was born on November 30, 1922 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the only child of Roy Zollars and Gerda Zollars. Though her dad died when she was very young and she grew up during the Great Depression, her mother worked hard to nurture both her well-being and her love of God. After graduating high school in 1940, Millie attended secretarial school and began her working career as an attendance clerk in a high school. She met Roy Ellis, Jr. at a USO dance and they were married on January 27, 1946. They spent much of their 67 years together in New Mexico, but also loved living in Florida and Arizona for a time. Millie retired from SJRMC in 1985 and she and Roy enjoyed their golden years traveling and spending time with family. Nana, as she was affectionately called by her grandchildren, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who lived her faith in the good Lord every day. She was much loved and will be dearly missed.
Millie is survived by her daughters, Corrine (Orlando) Estrada and Nancy (Allen) Roe; sister-in-law, Mabel Harry; grandchildren, Melissa (Michael) Pavey, Nathan (Laura) Evans, Eileen (Luke) Longacre, Jaime (Hadda) Estrada, Matthew Roe, and Mechel (Aaron) Watts; great-grandchildren, Maddisson and Brian Pavey, JT, Ethan and Elaine Evans, Liam, Lenox, and Eisley Longacre, Noah and Kamil Estrada, Nathan and Bradley Roe, Austin and Quiahna Otero, and Draven and Eli Watts; niece, Susan (Mike) Atencio; and nephews, Joey (Shelley) and Robert (Malena) Harry. Millie was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Ellis, Jr., parents Roy and Gerda Zollars, and brother-in-law Glenn Harry.
Millie loved all animals and especially her pets; therefore, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to your local animal league or shelter or any charity of your choice.
