Mildred H. Cathey, 94, of Farmington, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016. She was born Dec. 17, 1922, in Tempe, Ariz. to James Elijah Harvey and Zelma S. Harvey. Mildred died at San Juan Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She graduated from Socorro High School and went to work in Government offices as well as with the schools. She married Wallace Cathey in Nov. 1944. Together they raised their children. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Cathey; parents, J.E. and Zelma Harvey; brothers, James "Butch" Harvey and Paul Harvey; sisters, Marguerite McPhaul and Peggy Brannon. She is survived by her son, Dr. George Cathey; daughters, Linda Gomez and Yvonne Cordova; brothers, Earl Harvey and Gary Harvey; and grandchildren, George F. Cathey, Greg L. Cathey, Jason L. Cordova, Wacey Cathey, Colin Cordova, Judd Cathey, Jocselyn Cathey, Glenn Cathey, Zeke Cathey and Tucker Cathey. A visitation for Mildred will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4 at Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 W. Arrington St. in Farmington. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 at Cope Memorial Chapel with pastor Brent Heddin officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 6917 E. Main St. in Farmington. Pallbearers will be Dr. George Cathey, Mr. Ray Gomez, Mr. Joe Cordova, Mr. George F. Cathey, Mr. Greg Cathey, Mr. Jason Cordova and Honorary Pallbearers are Mr. Craig Edwards and Mr. Chuck Renk. Mildred's care is entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel, 404 W.
