Melvin Cecil Symonds

Melvin Cecil Symonds, 92, passed away on November 2, 2015, at Life Care Center of Farmington. He was born on July 17, 1923 in Mansfield, SD to Harry and Ruth Symonds.
He and Marge Burdick were married on August 29, 1948. They celebrated 57 years of marriage.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marge; his parents; sister Virginia Pawlowski; and brothers Darold and Wayne Symonds.
He is survived by two daughters, Ruth (Jeff) Billingsley and Lynne (Jon) Carroll; three grandchildren Ryder (Lynn) Billingsley, Trey (Becky) Sandoval, and Wayne Sandoval; 5 great-grandchildren Marc and Hannah Billingsley, Aubre (Jeremy) Homer, and Hope and Avery Sandoval; 2 great-great grandchildren Breanna and Mark Homer; brothers Richard (Patty) Symonds and Tom (Peggy) Symonds; and sister Janet Brink.
Melvin was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Animas Lodge #15, AFandAM, York Rite Masonic Bodies and Ballut Abyad Shrine. Melvin was also a member of Electa Chapter #13, Order of the Eastern Star. Additionally, he was a member of Three Rivers Sam's RV Group and longtime caretaker of the Shrine Park. He retired from the City of Farmington.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, November 13th at the First Presbyterian Church, 865 N. Dustin Ave., with Pastors Frank Hayes and Glenn Perica officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the First Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund.
