Meliton F. Atencio, 90, of Blanco, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, in Blanco N.M. He was born in Blanco, N.M. on January 11, 1926. He served in the Army and later became a Merchant Seaman, where he traveled to many countries. Meliton spoke five different languages, Navajo being his favorite. He retired from the Local Labor Union with honors after 50 years of service. He was an active member of the Aztec Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses. He loved to read, garden and study languages, but most important thing in his life was to be a faithful servant to God Jehovah. He always had a poem, joke or funny story to tell. He never met a stranger. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all. He is preceded in death by his wife Beatrice Atencio , parents Daniel and Senida Atencio,brothers: Alex, John, Trinidad, George, Elias, and Amador Atencio, sisters; Celina and Lucy. He is survived by one sister Josephine Jacquez,one son Daniel L. Atencio, three daughters; Carol, Stella, and Pearl Atencio. Grandchildren; Carlos Lucero, Jessica Handserd, Nathen Pace, Shawn Casaus, Amanda Kane, and great-grandchildren; Nathen and Ashton Kane, Kobe Handserd, Isabela Casaus, and Honorary grandchildren; Prescilliana Benson, A Service will be held on Saturday , December 03, 2016 at the Aztec Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses at 2:00 pm. A Memorial of his life will be held at the World Harvest Center 1024 N. Butler in Farmington, N.M. between the hours of 3: 30 to 8:30 pm. The family of Meliton F.
